IGN Reviews - Catherine Game Review

Classic Game Room reviews CATHERINE on Playstation 3 (and Xbox 360) from Atlus, a bizarre puzzle game where Fatal Attraction meets Climbing for Dollars (Running Man anyone?)!!! From the team that brought you Persona comes Catherine, a mystery, thriller mixed with a Japanese horror movie, anime and strategic puzzle game where your character climbs to save his life! Vincent is having strange dreams that he can’t remember and his girlfriend is pressuring him to get married… oh and she’s pregnant. Maybe Vincent shouldn’t be cheating on Katherine with Catherine, a psycho hottie that he meets in the bar. Catherine packs a solid story, multiple endings and puzzle gameplay that can be enjoyed numerous times. If you dig games like Persona and the Shin Megami Tensei series as well as puzzle thinking games then Catherine is for you (the non-crazy one maybe). This CGR video review of Catherine has gameplay from the PS3 Playstation 3 version of Catherine, also available for Xbox 360 from Atlus USA.

  1. I just beat this game on normal. was it hard? Yes it was. but when you finally figured out how, it felt great. All these vaginas in here complaining that they have to use their brain a little bit.

  2. Love this game finished it and i once again had that dark souls feeling of playing something completely different. That's the mark of an amazing game in my opinion

  3. I enjoyed the game for the story, originality and overall craziness, but not for the difficulty. I don't like extremely difficult games. This game is very, very hard at some parts.

  4. I barely started playing this game, and it's already frustrating the CRAP out of me! Those nightmare puzzle parts are HORRIBLE! I flipping HATE them! I barely got to the second one, and I keep falling, and falling, and falling. GAME OVER!  Those puzzle parts ruined this game for me, and I don't even care about returning. Such a shame. I was looking SO forward to playing this. I guess I'll just have to watch playthroughs on YouTube to see what happens.

  5. I prefer Katherine over Catherine. I love girls with glasses. Can't stand slutty women. I'll be buying this either this month, or next month.

  6. My ex girlfriend's name(but spelled different). Yep, it definitely fits the Japanese anime horror genre. Hehe.I barely started playing this game, and it's already frustrating the CRAP out of me! 7. The game is funny and interesting, but the gameplay is repetitive… I thought I could interact more with the ambient and the conversations.

  8. one of my favourite games
    10 out of 10, brilliant!

waiting for atlus to announce a new part
by the way, music is awesome

  10. hey you guys just got the game how do you think I should answer the questions honestly or just lie to get the true ending on my first playthrough

  11. This doesn't sound like a review, it sounds like a summary imo. Go out and play the game & have fun, don't watch this. The game is best for its story and its puzzle and if too much of the story is spoiled here in front of you, that would obviously make the any game's storyline (especially this one) more dull.

  12. i started hearing it wherever i went, lol it reminds me of the letter 'H' which means/implies 'sex' in japanese.

  13. Next time you play through the game, see if you can spot the point where the game basically tells you Katherine was Cheating on Vincent with Jonathan. true story.. i noticed on my 2nd playthrough.
