  1. No. Sony has never said there will be, and all indications are that they are done putting any work towards PS2.

  2. another one? there isn’t even one now!

the non-backwards compatible PS3s will NEVER be able to play PS2 games. I repeat NEVER!

    from Wikipedia:

“The 40 GB, 80 GB (2008), and 160 GB models have two USB ports instead of the four USB ports on other models, and do not include multiple flash card readers, SACD support, or any backwards compatibility with PlayStation 2 games.”

    direct from Sony:

“If a PLAYSTATION 3 is not backward compatible, you will not be able to add this function through any hardware (i.e., changing the hard disk drive) or software (i.e., updates, homebrew) upgrades or modifications.”

  3. It dont think its true. It think through emulation they could develop software that would allow you to play ps2 games, but i dont think theyll put the effort into doing that. If it was easy they would have already released it.

  4. You need the proper emulator HARDWARE in order to play PS2 games on the current PS3s. They don’t have them and you can’t have it installed without voiding your warranty. No software in the world or on Mars will help you.

If you really want to play PS2 games on a PS3 you will have to get one of the older models from ebay, criaigslist, or somewhere.
