Playstation 3 freezes on COD4:Modern Warfare?

My system is only a month old and I just re-purchased this game about an hour ago. Everytime I go to the multiplayer menu the whole system freezes, and I have to hit the power button on the console to shut it off(PS button doesnt work when frozen). If I select “FIND A MATCH” it says “Downloading Game Settings.”. The thing is, is that it never finishes downloading the game settings, it just keeps loading. When I go to private match menu the whole system completely freezes. Whats also weird is that during these problems it still plays the background lobby music. Right now, It’s been on the “downloading game settings” screen for 15 minutes and still nothing. I never had this problem with any other games and never had this problem when I previously owned COD4. I can’t even join any match cause of this dumb downloading pop up screen.Any ideas?

  1. the disc might be scratched, try having it cleaned.

you might have a crappy connection, buffering is evil for gamers. try reconnecting your ps3, check your network settings.

is your ps3 hot? it might have overheated

if all else fails bring it back to the store you bought it from and tell them, just keep pressuring and the should check out the problem. most likely you’ll get a deal.

  2. I had the same “downloading game settings” problem for a long time too and until today have not been able to get much use out of this game. First, I would bypass your router. Try to play the game with the PS3 connected directly to your cable modem. If it works fine, then there is something in your router causing the problem. Give your PS3 a static IP address and set that IP address in the DMZ of your router. I also forward TCP/UDP ports 3074, 3075, 3478, 3479, 3658, and 5223 to the static ip, but forwarding ports shouldn’t be necessary if you have the PS3 in the DMZ. For some people this alone will resolve the problem. For me it did not. If your router has Upnp (Universal Plug-n-Play), then disable it. Disabling Upnp was what fixed the problem for me. Send me a note if it works. PSN-ID: BustedForPlaying
